My friends in West Lane confirm that the council has negotiated for demolition without CPO. Prices supposedly on the cards: 44k for 2-beds and 54k for 3-beds, plus 10%, plus 20k bridging allowance - but this is purely HEARSAY, no definite figures until the valuation. Because there is only one appointed valuation firm, which could take several weeks to arrange the valuation, my friends may lose a currently-available house. We understand that you can get an independent valuation (at your cost), but the council may not find the independent valuation acceptable in all probability. Also, if the valuation is less than anticipated, they will have to decide whether to spend time haggling etc. - The pressure will be on to take what they can get.

Latest from West Lane: my friends have lost the chance to buy the house they'd found, because supposedly the solicitors appointed to do valuations have got to the end of their allotted budget for now. Stories of 54k compo are therefore meaningless. The same applies to promises of nice houses with big gardens that are supposedly going to be built - but there is no builder and there are no blueprints as yet.
Fed up!

Oh I am absolutely furious today! I had my house on the market and it fell through because of the Evening Gazette headlines in April. I was gutted to say the least. My hubby had just got a new job in the Midlands (a job he has waited years to do) and we needed to sell this house to go. Anyway, we decided he should go and I would sort the house out to rent. I seen an ad in the paper a few weeks ago from Endeavour housing. They wanted homes in the Middlesbrough area which they would manage. Great I thought, I could move straightaway and not have to worry about my home, the mortgage would be paid and they would take care of the hassle. I've just been informed by Endeavour that they have spoken to Middlesbrough Council and they (the council) have decided 'due to problems around the area' they would not want our house to be included in the letting scheme. The COUNCIL decided! Its the council CAUSING the bloody problems! So I can't sell, I can't rent it to an housing association, I'll have problems renting it privately (which I didn't really want to do because I won't be in the area to keep an eye on things). What am I supposed to do? My husband is having to stay in digs in the Midlands, at a cost of £100 a week to us. We can not afford it, I'm living on my overdraft just to make ends meet. If this isn't sorted soon I don't know what I'll do, I'm running out of options. Sorry for ranting, I'm just so angry I needed to tell someone. Fed Up
